Ribeye T-Series 350
In recent months, Ribeye has caused something of a storm with its ultra-lightweight aluminium-hulled tenders. In fact, we’ve not been able to get our hands on one for a test because every boat imported has already been sold. However, for the UIM Formula Future Continental Championships held at Lancashire Powerboat Racing Club (14-15 August), Ribeye has donated four T-series 350 tender RIBs, fitted with console-mounted remote control and quick (but very frugal) Yamaha 15hp four-stoke outboards - and you can buy exactly the same spec of boat at just a smidgeon over this month’s budget. It will carry six people safely and efficiently and, if you don’t mind tiller control, you could even upgrade to the larger four-metre version for the same sort of money. Ah, choices, choices . . .

Kruger Alpha III
ABC Marine have earned themselves a great reputation with their affordable Kruger boats and were delighted to conjure up a package to match this month’s budget. So, for £5,999, how about a roomy and extremely stable Kruger Alpha III?
At 4.2 metres in length and an impressive 1.78 metres in the beam, this certainly makes a fine family boat but there’s plenty more to it than that. The package includes the dark blue hull option, rope fendering, traditional launch-style controls and a full cushion set. It comes with a fully installed Mariner eight-horsepower electric-start outboard, plus a boat cover and a fully galvanised roller trailer.
If you want a truly unusual colour scheme you could take a look at the ‘Guinness’ version with black hull and cream superstructure and, if you want to save few pennies, you could opt instead for the Alpha II, which is identical except for its tiller control. A similar package for the Alpha II (including engine, boat and trailer) comes in at just £5,495. Both boats are RCD rated as ‘C’, so they are perfect for inland waters or for exploring the odd harbour or beach. It’s good stuff from ABC.

Laser Vago
To refute any accusations that we are all petrol heads at Boat Mart, the final suggestion this month should appeal to those who like to enjoy the peace and quiet. Laser produces a truly amazing line-up of extremely popular small sailing craft, ranging from kiddie’s starter boats to outright racing craft. Indeed, Lasers have become the range of choice across the world, turning up in every single corner of the globe and our budget this month gives us lots of choice. How about a rather special Laser package in the form of a race-ready, three-sail trapeze boat with a fast-growing following and class association. Known as the Vago, it has recently being awarded ISAD recognition. Laser Vagos are available with either race or standard sail options and are equally ideal for either first-time owners or the experienced. This special VAT-inclusive offer includes everything you need to get afloat, including a launch trolley, a road trailer, a top cover, an under bag and a blade bag, all for £6,000. A ‘Standard’ Vago is £200 cheaper than that, so the first-timer has plenty of options on just a modest budget.
